One of the most common miconceptions I have heard is people using vapor cartridges for either mist or dust.  Vapor cartridges and masks provide protection against gases only.  You must pair the vapro mask with a particualte filter.  Particulate filters serve to eliminate both dust and mist.

It is extremely important to read the safety precaustions for the product your are using.  Whether it is spray-apint pr pesticide, the company that makes the cheimcal knows best how to protect you from it.
